Painting is both slow and spontaneous. It takes time for the elements to come together in a satisfying way, while the act of painting is usually quite spontaneous. Before the completion of a piece, I’ve typically moved on to another. This distance ultimately allows clarity once I’ve returned to each piece.

My memory is full of color and color influences the way I perceive and remember. I consider myself and abstract colorist. The images reflect prized memories while I allow color to celebrate them. My use of color is intuitive, each stroke or subtraction. During the process, sometimes things can take unexpected turns, not every decision is right but there are happy accidents as well.

BIO

Born and raised in Littleton Colorado, Daniel Marschman is currently living and working in Denver Colorado. He is known for his combined media paintings and monotypes. In recent months, he has turned his attention to embellishing other objects with his distinctive signature style and bold use of color contrasted with detailed imagery. Daniel is an artist fascinated by travel and the experience it brings. Vivid skies, landscapes and cultural imagery often find their way into his work.

Daniel has been interested in art from his earliest memories, however it wasn’t until his early twenties that he became involved in Denver’s burgeoning art scene. “In those days, the galleries were relegated to the city’s gritty edge.” Recalls the artist. He became a member of Core New Art Space, a cooperative gallery space in what is now the up and coming RINO district which has received many accolades for its commitment to the arts. After many years in the original location, Core moved to 14th and Larimer. Daniel continued to participate in group shows and individual shows for roughly a decade before returning to complete his education and receiving an Associate degree in Architecture.

Daniel worked as a commercial interior and architectural designer for the next 25 years while continuing to exhibit in shows such as the Denver Grand Prix exhibit at 1999 Broadway and Art by Architects at the Curtis Center for the arts. During that time, his heart remained in the arts. Interior design fueled his desire but rarely satisfied his need for art. “My favorite projects have always involved artwork and artists.” During this time, the artist became familiar with art consultants and used them for guidance and art selection for commercial interiors and representation of his own work. The artist now specializes in Art Consulting which allows more dedication to his own work as well.
